BARBIE FORTEZA has bittersweet feelings for today is the start of the final week of “Meant to Be” that successfully ran on the air for six months and is a consistent top rater. Their last taping day is tomorrow, Tuesday, according to Director L.A. Madridejos and program manager Hazel Abonita. There are talks that they will go live on the air on their final telecast on Friday, June 23, for viewers to find out who won in the poll as to who will get Barbie as Billie’s heart in the end: Ken Chan, Ivan Dorschner, Jak Roberto or Addy Raj?
Barbie quickly adds that whoever the viewers would choose for her does not necessarily mean that he’s also her own personal choice? “Basta sa akin na lang yun,” she says.
Even her senior co-stars in the show, Manilyn Reynes, Tina Paner, Sheryl Cruz, Janno Gibbs and Keempee de Leon, have their own personal choice for her. From what we see, though, the one with the most number of fans is the KenBie love team, Ken Chan and Barbie. This is evident in the mall shows they do where the crowd’s scream and squeals are the loudest when Ken joins Barbie on stage.
Barbie says that years from now, she will always look back at “Meant to Be” with much fondness in her heart. “Forever na itong magiging part ng history ko sa showbiz as one of the most memorable shows na ginawa ko kasi nag-enjoy talaga kaming lahat ng mga kasama ko habang ginagawa namin ito, both my co-stars and the staff.”
How will she remember her four leading men? Hahaha! But seriously, I’m proud of him kasi sobrang naging improvement ng acting niya from the time na nag-start kami up to now, six months later, na nahasa na siya nang husto sa harap ng kamera.”
What about Ivan who was the first to be linked to her when the show just started and people thought their closeness to each other is for real? “Close pa rin naman kami, a. Isa lang ang masasabi ko about Ivan, he’s the perfect leading man. I enjoyed working with him.”
And last but not the least, Ken. “Si Ken, I’ve worked with him for the longest time since ‘Tween Hearts’ na 15 pa lang ako. Tapos naging ka-love team ko na and I’m thankful kasi napakahusay niya. Best actor talaga!”
And the latest news about her and Ken is that they will start shooting their first movie together right after “Meant to Be”. This is titled “This Time Will Be Sweeter” and will be a co-production between Regal MultiMedia and GMA Films, to be directed by Joel Lamangan.
SO many movies have expressed their desire to join the 2017 Metro-Manila Filmfest in December. So far, we know of only one entry that has been completed in principal photography and post-production, “Ang Larawan”, the musical adaptation in Filipino of Nick Joaquin’s acclaimed “Portrait of the Artist as Filipino” with Rachel Alejandro, Joanna Ampil and Paulo Avelino, directed by Loy Arcenas.
Shooting right now is Regal and IdeaFirst Company’s “My Fairy Tale Story”, a fantasy love story about a mermaid played by Janella Salvador with Elmo Magalona as leading man, directed by Percival Intalan. Then there’s Star Cinema’s two big projects with Coco Martin and Vice Ganda, who were together in last year’s “Super Parental Guardians”.
Now, Coco is directing his own solo entry, the nth reboot of “Ang Panday”, while Vice Ganda is teaming up with Daniel Padilla and Pia Wurtzbach in her first movie after winning the Miss Universe title. Their project is tentatively titled “Super Heroes”, directed by Joyce Bernal. Both film projects have yet to start shooting.
With these projects already on the drawing board, we don’t think Star Cinema will still field their new version of “Darna” starring Liza Soberano in the 2017 filmfest, what with its director, Erik Matti, still busy directing other projects, like Anne Curtis’ “Buy Bust” and the “On the Job” TV series for HOOQ.
Another much awaited entry in the Metro filmfest is the comeback project of iconic filmmaker Mike de Leon, the political film “Citizen Jake” with broadcaster Atom Araullo in his first acting job playing the title role, supported by Gabby Eigenmann, Max Collins, Cherie Gil, Luis Alandy and Teroy Guzman.
The late director, Gil Portes, had expressed his intention to join the filmfest with his socially relevant, “Mindanao”, about a young doctor who choose to practice his profession in an indigent rural community. But now that he has left us, we suppose this project would have to be shelved now.
MARTIN DEL ROSARIO finally appeared as Aramis in “Mulawin Vs. Ravena”. Aramis will act as a go-between for the character of Heart Evangelista to keep in touch with her long lost son, Derrick Monasterio as Almiro.
“Dream come true for me na makasama si Heart sa isang show kasi ultimate childhood crush ko siya,” he says. “Natuwa talaga akong makaeksena siya kasi ang ganda-ganda niya. Medyo intimidated ako noong una kasi first time ko siyang makatrabaho, but it turns out makulit din pala siya a madaldal. I really enjoyed working with her and doing our scenes together.”
In “Mulawin Vs. Ravena”, Heart as Alwina finally makes an appearance to Nova Villa as the Lola who took good care of Derrick as Almiro. She introducer herself to Nora and reveals that she’s the real mother of Derrick. She said she had to leave Derrick before as a baby for his own safety and she now warns Nova that she should protect Derrick from Dennis Trillo as Senyorito Gabriel who is a Ravena in disguise and actually wants to kill Derrick for being the Sugo.
Dennis succeeds in finding Derrick who is a hunchback and tries to prove that Derrick is the Mulawin that he is looking for. But he gets terribly frustrated when he doesn’t find any wings on Derrick’s back. Heart says that when Derrick’s wings grow back, then that will be the time that his memory will also come back and remember that he is really a true Mulawin.
