MEGAN Young got very positive reviews for her effective portrayal of Alice, the young stepmother of Zoren Legaspi’s three kids from his late wife who is always at odds with her stepchildren and their yaya in Regal’s “Our Mighty Yaya”, which is a big hit so Mother Lily Monteverde gave a thanksgiving presscon at Valencia Events Place yesterday, the only producer who does this now. The film is now extended in several theaters.
“Well, I’m glad maraming nakagusto sa performance ko kasi most of the time, hindi ako 'yung character na ginagampanan ko sa movie,” she says. “Lalo na kapag may conflict kami ng mga anak ni Zoren, played by Sofia Andres, Lucas Magallano and Alison McBride, parang ang taray at masyadong maangas ang dating ng character ko. Actually, hirap na hirap ako roon. Kung minsan, after I do a scene, sabi ko mismo sa sarili ko, ang sama naman niya kasi kung ako 'yun, I wouldn’t handle the same situation that way. Kasi ako, I can be straightforward and very frank in real life, pero hinahaluan ko ng lambing, kinakausap ko nang mahinahon ang mga tao and make sure alam nila kung ano yung mali nilang hindi ko nagustuhan.”
If Megan’s acting has improved, some folks they cannot say the same for her boyfriend who just renewed his contract with the Kapuso Network.
Of course, we didn’t have the heart to tell that to Megan. Instead, we tell her that their photos of their travels in their social media account seem to indicate like they’re ready for the next step: settling down. “Naku, hindi pa. As of now, basta we’re just enjoying ourselves. Chill lang. Pareho kaming marami pang plans sa buhay, sa aming careers.”
Megan is all set to leave for the U.S. in July to try her luck in Hollywood where she already got an agent. “Pero nakasalalay pa rin 'yan sa work ko sa GMA7. If they’d give me a new project, then priority ko pa rin sila. But so far, wala pa silang nababanggit sa’kin so I will try my luck naman sa States dahil sayang ang panahon, di ba? If I don’t try now, kailan pa? I’m not getting any younger.”
MATTEO SAYS COMPETING WITH SARAH ISN'T NEW
MATTEO Guidicelli remains to be one of the most well-bred stars at the Kapamilya Network, always oozing with good vibes and positivity. Sun Life Asset Management Co. Inc. or SLAMCI presented him as its brand ambassador for its Mutual Fund that will show a series of vlogs called Make It Mutual, starring Matteo himself, that will demonstrate to millennials how to invest their savings wisely.
“They will provide you with your own financial adviser who’ll act like a life coach you can trust to make your own money work for you,” says Matteo. “You can start with an investment of as low as P5,000. I believe in it as I only endorse products that I really trust and believe in. It’s my third year with them and ever since I ‘made it mutual’ with SLAMCI, they’ve been helping me achieve my life goals, so I want to foster Mutual Fund awareness to help more Filipinos in choosing the right investment company para they can avoid the dubious ones.”
His girlfriend, Sarah Geronimo, is endorsing another company that offers the same services. How do they feel about this? “Most of the time naman, we’re endorsing competing products, so okay lang. About financial investments, she has her own financial adviser naman and we don’t let our competing endorsements affect our personal life. This is the reason why we avoid appearing in the same project. We both agreed that we want our relationship to be very private to protect it.”
In his last movie, “Can’t Help Falling in Love”, he played some sort of a contravida to Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo. Why did he accept it when he already does lead roles? “I don’t mind being the third wheel as I want to experience working with Kathniel. Also, the director, Mae Cruz, is one of my favorite directors and when she offered it to me, I said yes right away. Anyway, I now play a lead role in my new movie, ‘The Ghost Bride’, with Kim Chiu. It’s directed by Chito Roño and I was intimidated at the start but he turned out to be very nice. Matatapos na ang shoot namin by next month. There are also negotiations for a new teleserye but confidential pa lahat.”
WHY DERRICK FEELS COMFORTABLE WITH BEA
DERRICK Monasterio is happy to play his biggest role on primetime in “Mulawin vs. Ravena” as Almiro, the new Sugo of the Mulawin tribe of bird people. “Noong araw, kinakanta ko lang 'yung theme song ng ‘Mulawin’, ‘Ikaw Nga’ ng South Border, when I join singing contests,” he says. “HIndi ko akalain na sa bagong version pala nito, I will be playing a major big role.”
He had to physically prepare for the role. “Kasi naka-harness ako sa flying scenes. Hindi biro 'yung lumilipad-lipad ka while you’re wearing your costume.”
But didn’t he play a superhero in his recent show, “Tsuperhero”? “Yes, pero hindi ako pinapakitang lumilipad doon, e. I just pop in and pop out kapag may kailangan akong tulungan, unlike dito, kailangang lumilipad ka talaga with your wings.”
If he would be a bird, what would he choose to be? “I’d like to be a vulture. Mabangis. Malaki. Matapang.”
He’s paired with Bea Binene in “Mulawin Vs. Ravena” which will replace “Encantadia” that will have its bombastic finale tonight so don’t miss it.What can Derrick say now that it looks like that GMA is really giving their loveteam a big push?
“Nakita kasi nilang nag-click kami sa ‘Hanggang Makita Kang Muli’ and ‘Tsuperhero’, kaya tinuluy-tuloy na ang loveteam. Okay lang naman kasi we really get along fine at comfortable na kami sa isa’t isa. We hope the viewers continue to support our tandem now we’re now on primetime.”
