Jobless woman shot dead

TALISAY, Batangas -- A woman on board a tricycle was shot dead by two unidentified assailants on the national highway in Bgy. Balas, here, yesterday morning.
Police identified the victim as Evangeline Vicencio Abello, 47, married, jobless, native of Tondo, Manila, and presently residing in Bgy. Caloocan, this town.
Case-in-charge PO3 Larry P. Jumarang and PO1 Mary Grace Esguerra’s initial investigation disclosed that at around 10:40 a.m., the victim was on board a Suzuki tricycle (9700WI) driven by Marcelo Sales Quinoy, 42, of Sitio Sto. Niño, Bgy. Banga, Talisay,  and heading to the town proper.
Suddenly, two motorcycle-riding men -- with the driver wearing a black jacket without helmet -- overtook the tricycle. The back rider (gunman), wearing a green bonnet, drew a pistol and shot the victim several times, hitting her in the body and killing her on the spot.
The suspects quickly escaped.
The driver jumped over his tricycle and ran away for cover.
Investigators recovered at the scene  nine empty shells and one slug for cal. .45 pistol.
A Scene of the Crime Operatives team from BPCLO conducted technical investigation into the incident.
The cadaver of the victim was brought to Velma Funeral Homes in Tanauan City.
