GUNMEN on Sunday night freed a Yemeni national they abducted in Marawi City, the chief of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Police Regional Office said yesterday.

Senior Supt. Bienvenido Latag said Najibal Udaini, 30, was released by his captors to Rep. Faisah Dumarpa,  her husband and congressional candidate Salic Dumarpa and Bukidnon vice-gubernatorial candidate Amerodin Sarangani in Talakag town.

Latag sent a team of investigators led by Supt. Gani Asira to coordinate their investigation with the Police Regional Office 10.

Udaini, a worker for the World Assembly of Muslim Youth, was snatched by gunmen last Jan. 29 and dragged into another vehicle. Two other Yemenis and their Filipino driver managed to escape unhurt.

It was not immediately known if the suspects demanded any ransom for the victim’s release.
