THE family gathers today in North Carolina to celebrate our mother Angie Reyes’ 77th birthday and to pay tribute to an adored matriarch who always puts her children and grandchildren’s needs above her own.
We go to her for everything we need: expert baby-sitting; secret recipes; help with financial woes; relationship advice; child-rearing tips, even health and fashion pointers. She is also the most reliable source of showbiz and teleserye news.
Before migrating to the United States and retiring to become a full-time caregiver to her young grandchildren, Mommy Angie had a long and distinguished career as an educator -- as a public elementary school teacher, then a college professor. She also worked tirelessly on her own professional advancement, earning a PhD in Education while teaching and performing her roles as a full-time mother to three kids and husband to our late father, Nestor.
She is a teacher, first and foremost, to her children and grandchildren. She never wavered in her desire to give everyone in the family a decent upbringing and education.
Mommy Angie ensured that each family member pursued success with dignity and strong moral convictions.
We thank her for everything she has done for the family and wish her good health and continued blessings.
We love you, Mommy Angie!
