JaDine brings house down at 1st Eddy’s Awards

SIZZLING love team James Reid and Nadine Lustre brought the house down at the 1st Eddy’s Awards held last July 8, 2017 at the Kia Theater in Cubao, Quezon City.

The darling duo opened the event with a spell-binding song and dance number that signalled an electrifying night ahead. The audience was left on its feet and cheering midway through the number.
    
Vilma Santos and Paolo Ballesteros won Best Actress and Best Actor awards respectively at the show of shows where stars shone their brightest.
    
The Eddy’s Awards 2017 was mounted by the Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd), a non-stock, non-profit organization of entertainment editors from the country’s top broadsheets and tabloids.
    
The show was hosted by father and son Edu and Luis Manzano.
    
The other performers namely Yassi Pressman, Arjo Atayde, Ella Cruz, Julian Trono, Martin Nievera, Ogie Alcasid, Morissette Amon, Klarisse, made time for The Eddys from the producers, Viva Live and ABS-CBN.
    
Vilma won for “Everything About Her,” while Paolo was recognized for “Die Beautiful.” Lav Diaz added another feather in his cap by winning Best Director for “Ang Babaeng Humayo.” Angel Locsin and John Lloyd Cruz were named Best Supporting Actress and Best Supporting Actor for “Everything About Her” and “Ang Babaeng Humayo,” respectively.
    
The late Jake Tordesillas, a multi-awarded movie scriptwriter, was given a posthumous award.
    
The other awardees are: For Best Documentary: “Sunday Beauty Queen,” Best Musical Score: “Everything About Her” -- Emerson Tecson; Best Sound: “Seklusyon” -- Lamberto Casas; Best Theme Song: “Saving Sally,” Best Visual Effects: “Seklusyon,” Best Editing: “Die Beautiful,” Best Production Design: “Die Beautiful,” Best Cinematography:  “Seklusyon,” Best Screenplay: “Everything About Her,” Manny Pichel Award: Lav Diaz; Producer of the Year: Regal Entertainment’s Mother Lily Monteverde; and Joe Quirino Award: Boy Abunda.
    
The Eddys  will be broadcast on ABS-CBN on July 16, right after “Gandang Gabi Vice.”
