A 53-year-old building maintenance man died after he was pinned to death while fixing a service elevator of a condominium building yesterday in Parañaque City.

SPO2 Israel Perez and SPO1 Walter Dulawan, of Parañaque City police, identified the victim as Henry Villafranca, of Block 11, Lot 3, Bgy. San Andres, Dasmariñas City.

A police report said the incident took place at 8:30 p.m. at Washington Tower Condominium in Bgy. Dongalo.

Investigation showed that the service elevator developed a problem between the ground floor and basement 1 of the condominium, prompting Villafranca to climb to the top of the elevator to check.

Arturo Abriza, brother-in-law of Villafranca, said  the victim was fixing the elevator when it suddenly returned to normal operation, causing Villafranca to lost his balance and fell down on his head before he was pinned to death beneath the elevator.

Police said a Parañaque City rescue team extricated the body of the victim with the use of a metal cutter at 5:30 a.m.
