National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) yesterday announced the arrest of a retired policemen who hid for almost 25 years for charges of murder.
The NBI identified the fugitive as Rodolfo Gumayao, 64, retired police officer 3, who has been at large since the Bacolod City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 54 issued a warrant for his arrest on July 1, 1992 for a murder case filed against him.
Operatives of the NBI’s International Operations Division (IOD) and Intellectual Property Rights Division (IPRD) arrested Gumayao last April 19 at the food court of the Terra Plaza in Bacolod City.
Following his arrest, Gumayao was brought to the NBI Bacolod District Office for booking, then he was later transported the same day to the NBI main office in Manila where he has been detained.
The NBI is awaiting for a commitment order from the court to determine where he will finally be kept under detention.
