A 32-year-old resident at the Habitat for Humanity at the Baseco Compound in Port Area, Manila, was killed by two men while he was merely fetching water near his home the other day.
Victim Domingo Helos died in the hospital while receiving treatment for multiple stab wounds in the body.
One of the two suspects, identified as Marlito Valentino, alias ‘Oloy’, 27, a construction worker, of Gate 56, Parola Compound, Binondo, was arrested while his alleged accomplice, identified only as ‘Mak-Mak’, remains at large.
A probe by the Manila Police District-Crimes Against Persons Investigation Section (MPD-CAPIS) showed that at 3:10 p.m., the victim was in front of the Mover’s and Manager’s Corporation located at the corner of 2nd and Tacorna Streets at the Baseco Compound in Port Area.
He was reportedly fetching water when the suspects arrived and punched him for unclear reason.
When he turned around, he was stabbed by the suspects. He then fled the scene but was pursued by the suspects until he got cornered and stabbed again.
A concerned citizen reportedly took a wooden club to aid the victim, prompting the two suspects to run away.
Valentino was arrested on Delpan Bridge during a follow-up operation by the Baseco Police Community Precinct (PCP).
