Laborer stabbed dead

A laborer was stabbed dead while merely waiting for a ride at the corner of Dagupan and Perla Streets in Tondo, Manila, the orher night.

The victim was identified as Yoyoy Morta, 45 to 50 years old, and residing at the Procter and Gamble Village on Kalinga St., Bgy. 649, Baseco Compound.

Suspect Joel Morales, of Pilapil Street, Tondo is now in hiding.

SPO3 Charles John Duran of the Manila Police District-Homicide Section said the incident took place at around 10:30 p.m. in front of a house located at 1331 Dagupan Street in Tondo.

Initial investigation showed that the victim was on his way home accompanied by a co-worker, identified only as ‘Jack’, when the suspect arrived drunk.

For unclear reason, the victim and the suspect had an altercation.  
    
Witness Rodrigo Lagasca, 59, a resident in the area, pacified the two and told Jack to bring the victim home.
    
To their surprise, the suspect, who was already crossing the street, suddenly ran back and attacked the victim, stabbing him with a broken bottle and escaped.
    
The victim was rushed to the nearest hospital where he later died.
