An 18-year-old student of Lyceum of the Philippines was rushed to Makati Medical Center where she is now confined allegedly due to fraternity hazing that took place in an abandoned house in Las Piñas City.

A report from the Southern Police District (SPD) identified the victim only as a certain Anna, second year Tourism student, of 30 Balagtas St., Balagtas Villas, Pasay City.
The report added that the victim suffered severe beating following the hazing incident that took place last Jan. 8 at 10 a.m. in an abandoned house located in Ocampo St., Las Piñas City.
The report identified the suspects as one alias Yonara, Yuna, Marie and Brandy, said to be members of Tau Gamma Fraternity and classmates of the victim.
The victim’s mother told police that according to her daughter the suspects asked her to join them for an outing in Las Piñas City.
Anna said she was also asked to bring food, candle and sack.
When they arrived at the said abandoned house, Anna said the suspects threatened that she will be killed if she refused to join their fraternity, prompting her to submit herself to the whims of the suspects subjecting her to initiation rites that led to hazing in the process.
The report said Anna was whipped with a belt and hit with a dos por dos.
The mother told police that she learned of what happened to her daughter the following day (Jan. 9) when Anna’s friend told her elder daughter about it.
She said she confirmed the horrible suffering of her daughter, whose body also bore cigarette burn marks, when she confronted her when she has been locking herself in her room, prompting her to rush the victim to the hospital.
Chief Supt. Tomas Apolinario, Southern Police District (SPD) director, said an investigation is now ongoing and probers have coordinated with school authorities for proper disposition of the case.
