MANILA International Airport Authority (MIAA) General Manager Ed Monreal lauded two members of the Airport Police Department (APD) for their honesty and for exerting extra effort to help a balikba-yan recover a handcarry bag she lost and which contained a huge amount of cash and expensive pieces of jewelry, among others.
Citing a report in his office, Monreal said the ballikbayan, identified as Lalaine Diputado Paduanelli, a childcare professional, was departing for London when she lost her bag last January 5.
It was learned that she arrived in the country for the holidays and had just arrived at the NAIA Terminal 3 from Davao when she took the free airport shuttle service going to the NAIA Terminal 1 being provided for free by the MIAA.
When she arrived at the NAIA 1, she noticed that she had lost her bag containing among others, important documents, expensive pieces of jewelry and British pounds with an estimated equivalent of P40,000.
Paduanelli approached the airport police help desk at the NAIA 1 which was then being manned by Airport Police members Elmer Langit and Santiago Agalud-ud and sought assistance.
After gathering initial information, the two airport cops were able to trace the bag at the airport shuttle service which she rode from NAIA 3 to NAIA 1.
Both Langit and Agalud-ud then assisted Paduanelli to the lost and found section of the APD and later at the airline check-in counter to ensure that she makes it to her scheduled flight.
The balikbayan expressed profuse thanks to the two airport policemen. The contents of the bag were also intact, she said.
