A MANILA policeman shot a 20-year-old man for damaging his vehicle parked in Sta. Mesa, Manila, yesterday morning.

PO1 Anthony Jaira Nepomuceno, 30, assigned at the Manila Police District (MPD)-Station 11 and residing at 4334 Albina St., Sta. Mesa, Manila, brought the victim identified as Mark Jonathan Aguito, 20, of 2201 Anonas St., also in Sta. Mesa, to the nearest hospital.

Investigation by the MPD-Station 8 showed the shooting incident occurred at 12:55 a.m. on Altura Extension corner Albina Street in Sta. Mesa.

Aguito was reportedly  walking on his way home from the Sacred Heart Church in Old Sta. Mesa, together with barangay tanod Edelberto Malinis, 19, when the suspect confronted him about the damaged car.

An argument ensued with Nepomuceno shooting the victim. The cop, however, said Aguito attacked him with a jungle bolo and threw things at him, forcing him to shoot the victim.

Nepomuceno brought Aguito to the hospital accompanied by Barangay Kagawad Mauro Cruzado. The victim is now in stable condition.

The cop also gave himself up to the duty desk officer, PO3 Sydrick Lampas who turned him over to the MPD-General Assignment and Investigation Section (GAIS) for appropriate investigation and disposition.
