NO cancer hospital visit in China.
Presidential special assistant Christopher Bong Go yesterday disputed reports that President Rodrigo Duterte secretly flew to China during the year-end holiday break, for a hospital visit.
“Hundred percent, we did not leave (the country) during that period,” Go said.
Go reacted to an item in the column by former Sen. Francisco Kit Tatad which cited “reliable sources” as saying that the President had spent the new year in the Fuda Cancer Hospital in the Chinese city of Guangzhou.
However, Tatad said that the information could not be verified.
Duterte had his Yuletide hiatus and only made a public appearance after leading the Rizal Day commemoration rites at the Luneta and visiting bombing victims in Leyte on December 30. He later visited a Russian warship moored in Manila on Friday (Jan. 6).
The President has repeatedly denied that he has cancer, though he admitted to having had Buerger’s disease, Barrett’s esophagus, and spinal problems.
