A suspected drug den in Sta. Rosa, Nueva Ecija was smashed by members of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and arrested the dive’s operator and four others in a raid on Saturday, PDEA chair Undersecretary Arturo G. Cacdac Jr. said.
Cacdac identified the arrested suspects as Apolonia Abergas alias “Apol,” the 44-yearpold operator of the drug den; her brother Edgardo, 48; and their neighbors Geraldine Huges, 46; Mary Ann Ricardo, 34; and Donna Giron, 42.
Members of the PDEA Regional Office 3 under Director Gladys Rosales raided the Abergas’ residence in Barangay del Pilar based on search warrant for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 issued by a local court.
The raiding team found some 52 grams of shabu worth P110,000 and assorted drug paraphernalia.
Apolonia Abergas will be charged for violation of Section 6 (Maintenance of a Drug Den), Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 12 (Possession of Equipment and Other Drug Paraphernalia), Article II of Republic Act 9165 or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The other suspects will be facing charges for violation of Section 7 (Visitors/Employees of a Drug Den) and Section 15 (Use of Dangerous Drugs) of the anti-drug law.
Rosales said the suspects are now being held at the PDEA Region 3 jail in San Fernando City, Pampanga.
