“GOD bless him.”
This was the curt message relayed yesterday by embattled Vice Mayor Jejomar Binay to his former erstwhile ally, ex-Makati vice mayor Ernesto Mercado, who is reportedly abroad right now.
Binay issued the message despite Mercado being the key resource person in the ongoing Senate investigation into the alleged overpricing of the Makati City Hall office and parking building.
In an ambush interview, Binay refused to speculate on where Mercado may be and said: “Tinatago ng DOJ. Ayaw ipasabi kaya itanong mo sa kanila kung saan siya nagpunta.”
Meanwhile, Binay reiterated an earlier pronouncement that he will have to resort to filing charges against his detractors and deplored the revival of an old case against his wife, former Makati Mayor Elenita.
“... Sobra na. Kailangan na kami ho ay maghabla na rin. ’Yun bang pangungutya, paninira,” he said.
Presently in Davao, Binay said he could not be accused of early campaigning since his job as a public officer is 24 hours, stressing there is a time for campaigning.
“Dahil tinitignan mo kung ano ’yung mga problema. Pangalawa, makikiharap ka sa tao, nakikita ‘yung mga damdamin ng tao. Campaigning, there’s a time for that ’di ba? And you want to say it’s campaigning? Bakit? What’s wrong with what I’m doing?” he added.
