THE “trusted” subordinates at the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) of its erstwhile director general, Isidro Lapeña, have started moving into their new positions at the Bureau of Customs (BoC) to “help” Lapeña in the discharge of his new position as Customs commissioner.
Based on Customs Personnel Order (CPO) B-53-2017 dated September 18, 2017 and approved by Department of Finance (DoF) secretary, Carlos Dominguez, an initial batch of 10 people from the PDEA have been transferred to the BoC.
Heading the list of new Customs officials and agents is PDEA director for plans and operations service, Gladys F. Rosales, who would be acting (OIC) deputy commissioner for internal administration group (IAG).
On the other hand, replacing ex-Philippine Marines spokesman, retired colonel Neil Estrella at the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS) is erstwhile PDEA National Capital Region (NCR) director, Wilkins Villanueva.
Taking over from veteran Customs police official, Butch Tibayan, at the Enforcement and Security Service (ESS) or ‘Customs Police’ is PDEA Region 7 director, Yogi Felimon Ruiz.
Seven other PDEA agents coming from the office of the deputy director for operations are also moving into the BoC as intelligence agents.
They are John Michael Dacuo; Angel Yabot Jr.; Intelligence Officer (IO) 1 Jude Deo Michael DA Cango; IO1 Raymond Christopher Sobrevila; IO1 Ivy Joyce L. Umandap; and, IO1 Summer Gail C. Padeo.
Lapeña assumed the top customs post last August 30 with the dismissal by President Rodrigo Duterte of his first Customs commissioner, former Philippine Marines captain, Nicanor Faeldon, who became Customs chief in July 2016.
Faeldon and those that he brought into the agency last year from the ‘Grupong Magdalo’ were accused of corruption and of alleged involvement in the successful entry into the country last May of 605 kilos of shabu.
