No Filipino was affected by the 7.0 magnitude earthquake in Sichuan Province, China that left 19 people dead and 247 others injured, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said.
Foreign Affairs spokesman Robespierre Bolivar said “according to the Philippine Consulate General in Chongqing, there have been no report of Filipinos affected by the earthquake in Sichuan Province in China.”
He said the Consulate General continues to closely coordinate with the Filipino community to ensure that Filipinos in the area are safe and that those who may have been affected by the earthquake could be provided needed consular assistance.
“Filipinos in Sichuan may contact the Consulate General in Chongqing through the assistance to nationals hotline at +(86) 15823972513.”
The quake struck on Tuesday about 300km (180 miles) north of the provincial capital Chengdu, and was 10km deep.
