CAMP Olivas, Pampanga -- Two suspected drug pushers were killed after engaging policemen in a firefight during a buy-bust operation in Bgy. Duale, Limay, Bataan, Thursday night.
Senior Supt. Benjamin Silo Jr., Bataan police director, said the suspects initially evaded arrest after selling a sachet of shabu to a poseur-buyer but were pursued and cornered by town and provincial policemen.
Investigation showed that the main target of the operation, known only as “Rey”, was reported to have transferred from Orion to Limay town to evade authorities and continued selling illegal drugs.
Around 8:30 p.m. last May 18, after coordinating with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, operatives from the Limay town and Bataan Provincial Police Office conducted a buy-bust operation against the suspect, who was with a companion when he sold shabu to a poseur-buyer.
When they were about to be arrested, they ran and boarded their respective motorcycles but were pursued and cornered in a vacant lot. The duo allegedly drew their firearms and fired at the policemen, who retaliated, killing both of them.
Rey and his cohort yielded five plastic sachets of shabu, two cal. .38 revolvers with ammunition and weighing scales.
The bodies of the fatalities were brought to a funeral parlor while authorities are still trying to establish their identities.
