9 STL bookie collectors nabbed in Calamba

Combined elements of the Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB) and the Calamba Police Station arrested nine persons allegedly involved in illegal Small Town Lottery bookie operations in Villa Palao, Bgy. Canlubang, Calamba City, on Thursday night.

Supt. Vicente Cabatingan, PIB chief, identified the arrested suspects as Dolores Casem, 40, Arturo Casem, 43, Tessie Ramos, 58, all “kabos,” Edna Cabacungan, 46, Olympia dela Cruz, 62, Julia Mercado, 57, Ramonita Guanzon, 51, Daniela Berungoy, 57, and Benita Agullana, 60, all collectors.

Confiscated from the suspects were assorted pieces of white, yellow and pink fake STL betting forms (lastillas), assorted sets of STL betting booklets, black ballpens, a digital calculator, bet money amounting to P2,496 and other gambling paraphernalia.

The suspects failed to present any identification cards issued by Ramloid Corporation, the STL authorized operator.

Pertinent documents are now being prepared for filing of a case for violation of PD 1602 as amended by RA 9287 against the suspects.
