AN ARMED drug dealer in Pandi, Bulacan, was killed in a shootout with local police officers out to arrest him in a buy-bust operation yesterday morning, Bulacan police director Senior Supt. Romeo M. Caramat Jr. said.

The suspect, identified only as ‘Hugar,’ traded shots with members of the Pandi Municipal Police Station, headed by Chief Insp. Manuel de Vera, after he sensed the ongoing entrapment operation in Sitio Kataasan, Bgy. Bagbaguin, at 1 a.m. yesterday, and was killed in the process.
Caramat, citing a report from De Vera, said the suspect tried to flee towards a nearby irrigation canal and fired shots at the lawmen when he sensed the trap, prompting the officers to return fire.
Recovered from the slain suspect’s possession were one unlicensed caliber .22 revolver with three live ammunition, four plastic sachets containing suspected shabu and the marked money paid to the suspect by the undercover officer.
