BALER, Aurora –Retired provincial prosecutor Jesse Pimentel yesterday urged Justice Secretary Leila de Lima to assign permanent prosecutors in the province.
Pimentel, who retired last Jan. 2013, said only associate prosecutor attorney II and OIC provincial prosecutor Phanie Rose  Saez handle all the cases in Aurora.
Pimentel said Saez cannot handle the volume of cases filed in court.
He said one of the primary causes of the slow delivery of justice in the province was the lack of prosecutors.
People’s Journal learned that after Pimentel retired, first provincial prosecutor Jonard Hernandez was appointed judge of the Municipal Circuit Trial Court in  the towns of Maria Aurora and Dipaculao, while assistant prosecutor I Juliet Reyes was appointed presiding judge of the MTC in Dingalan town.
Last year, asst. prosecutor II Dante Sindac decided to retire due to serious illness. On the last quarter of 2014, deputy asst. prosecutor Haydierabad Casar also retired.
“Dapat anim lahat ang prosecutors sa Aurora.  Noon ang problema lack of judges. Bago ako nag-retire, kumpleto lahat ang mga huwes, pero ngayon fiscal naman ang kulang,” Pimentel said.
“Most affected sa pangyayaring ito ang mga inmates dahil kulang ang public  prosecutors. Walang hearing sa korte,” Pimentel further explained.
