BATANGAS City, Batangas -- A single bullet took the life of a 31-year-old driver after he shot himself in Purok 1, Bgy. Calicanto, here, the other day.
SPO3 Edsel dela Cruz identified the victim as Erwin Castillo Perez, with live-in partner, driver.
Investigators, led by Dela Cruz, said that a certain Recilda Perez Familara, 48, businesswoman, of Purok 1, Bgy. Calicanto, told them that she was inside her sari-sari store when she heard a gunshot coming from her house at 12:35 p.m.
She said she sought assistance from her neighbors Licardo Pangilinan Cordez, who opened the door of her nephew’s room (victim) where they found him dead with a lone gunshot wound in the neck, with the bullet exiting his skull.
The victim was rushed to Batangas Medical Center where he was pronounced dead on arrival by attending physician Dr. John Paul B. Bautista.
Police recovered a Smith & Wesson cal. .38 revolver (without serial number) with two live ammunition, a fired cartridge casing in its cylinder and a cellphone at the scene.
