Ecija trader killed by RIT gunmen

SAN Antonio, Nueva Ecija -- A 48-year-old businessman driving a motorcycle on his way home to Cabiao town was peppered with bullets by unidentified riding-in-tandem assailants here last Saturday night.

Killed was Apolinar Santos, of Bgy. Bagong Sicat, Cabiao, Nueva Ecija. He was driving a white Euro motorcycle when he was waylaid by two unidentified armed men on board an unmarked motorcycle at 9:45 p.m.
    
The gun attack transpired along the barangay road in Purok 7, Bgy. Sto. Cristo, this town.
    
Town police head Chief Insp. Marlon M. Cudal said the suspects gave chase when they saw the victim traversing the barangay road and upon reaching a dark portion of the road, they shot him several times, resulting to his instantaneous death.
    
Recovered at the crime scene were seven fired cartridges for cal. .45 pistol.
    
Cudal said they are still determining the motive behind the killing.
