ACTOR-SPORTSMAN Richard Gomez will find himself confronting a real drug menace once he takes over as the new mayor of Ormoc City where the proliferation of shabu is already a big problem.
Last Tuesday, combined operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the local police seized about 50 grams of shabu worth P250,000 in the underground market during a buy-bust operation in the city.
According to PDEA chair Undersecretary Arturo G. Cacdac Jr., suspect Christopher Nodalo, a 38-year- old resident of Bgy. Alta Vista, yielded the drugs and the marked money paid to him by an undercover agent of the PDEA Regional Office 8 under Director Laurefel Gabales.
Cacdac described the arrested suspect as a ‘notorious’ drug personality long being watched by the PDEA and the Ormoc City Police Station.
The suspect who is now locked up at the PDEA Region 8 jail has been charged for violation of Section 5 (sale of dangerous drugs) and Section 11 (possession of dangerous drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Sale of drugs is a non-bailable offense, said Cacdac.
