TAGAYTAY City, Cavite -- A 14-year-old boy was accidentally shot dead while watching television Sunday, said a report by Supt. Sancho Celedio, OIC of Tagaytay City PNP, to Senior Supt. Arthur Bisnar, police provincial director.
The victim, Joseph Meot, of Bgy. Tolentino East, second year high school student, was accidentally hit by a bullet when the firearm of Angeles Baybay, manager of Hanggang sa Kabilang Buhay Funeral Parlor, went off, in Purok 104, Bgy. Maitim, 2nd Central, during a drinking spree between the suspect, the father of the victim and other funeral staff.
The victim was brought to Ospital ng Tagaytay but died while undergoing treatment, case investigator PO2 Ruel A. Mendoza said.
Elements of Maitim 2nd PCP led by SPO1 Norberto Etchon was dispatched to conduct a follow-up operation at the crime scene that resulted in the arrest of the suspect and the recovery of a cal. 380 Browning gun.
Investigators said the victim was watching TV, along with the suspect and three others, who were allegedly having a drinking session. The suspect showed off his firearm to drinking mates and placed it on top of a table when it accidentally fired and hit the victim.
Police will file a complaint against the suspect who is now locked up in jail.
