A 71-YEAR-OLD widow was hacked dead by an angry tricycle driver in front of a public elementary school in Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro, last Wednesday, police said.

Marina Rovina, of Bgy. Ibaba West, Calapan City, suffered multiple hack wounds in the body and died while being taken to the Oriental Mindoro Provincial Hospital, said Police Regional Office 4-B director Chief Supt. Wilben M. Mayor.

Mayor said the suspect, identified as Christopher Perez, 31, also hacked himself in the head when was about to be cornered by an angry mob and was also pronounced dead upon arrival at the same hospital.

Investigation showed that the victim was standing in front of the Ibaba Elementary School when the suspect arrived and hacked him repeatedly without any reason at all. Bystanders who witnessed the attack went after the suspect, who eventually hacked himself, said the official.
