FLYING V shoots for the first outright semifinals berth as it plays AMA Online University today in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena.

Undefeated in seven matches, the Thunder are tipped to win in their 5 p.m. encounter with the struggling Titans.

Centro Escolar University tries to bolster its playoff drive against lowly Gamboa Coffee Mix in the curtain raiser at 3 p.m.

The Thunder are coming off a 91-79 conquest of the Scorpions last Tuesday in a game where Jeron Teng dropped 30 points, and are looking good in their bid for a breakthrough semis appearance right on the first try.

Teng is expected to get a lot of help from Eric Salamat and Gab Banal, as Flying V cannot afford to be complacent against AMA.

The Titans have the trio of Renzo Subido, Embons Bonleon and Andre Paras that the Thunder need to watch out in the game.

AMA lost badly last week to Wang’s Ballclub, 110-85, despite getting 35 points from Subido.

Tied with Batangas in fifth place at 4-3, CEU remains on course for the twice-to-beat quarters incentive.  The Scorpions are trailing the Couriers (5-3) by just half-a-game in the chase for the coveted No. 4 ranking in the playoffs.

The Coffee Lovers, who sport a 1-6 record alongside the Titans in ninth spot, are just hoping for the best for whatever slim chances of advancing to the next phase of the tournament.
