DON’T look now, but Mahindra is proving everyone that it’s no fluke.

The Enforcers relied on their solid endgame defense to repulse a gritty Talk N Text squad, 107-104, in  the   PBA Governors’ Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum last night.

Mahindra improved to a 6-2 win-loss record to clinch solo second spot while snapping Talk N Text’s impressive six-game winning run.

The Enforcers also had the bragging rights of becoming the first team to beat the Texters in the season-ending conference.

“Nerve-wrecking game,” said Mahindra coach Chris Gavina. “I would really like to commend Talk N Text. (Jayson) Castro is definitely the best pointguard in all of Asia.”

“I told them before the game that it would take nothing less than a championship effort for us to win today,” he added.

But nevertheless, Gavina is elated with the win.

“Definitely new ground for us, we’re happy we made franchise history of reaching six wins,” Gavina said.

James White once again dished out a solid performance for the Enforcers, finishing with a team-high 24 points and 10 rebounds.

He was later named best player of the game.

Not to be outdone, Paolo Taha and Nino Canaleta also had brilliant performances for the locals’ side.

Taha finished with 15 points, while Canaleta added 13 points.

LA Revilla and Mike Digregorio contributed 12 and 11 points, respectively.

After a close fight in the first period that saw Mahindra trailing by four, 19-23, the Enforcers got their groove going in the second period anchored on White and Taha.

Taha sparked a 10-0 run that gave Mahindra a 51-41 lead.

Talk N Text came to within seven, 44-51 at the break after Ryan Reyes drilled in a trey.

The Texters continued their offensive game in the third, with Jayson Castro leading the way to tie the game at 64-all.
