NO kidding, Manny Pacquiao is asking for P3 billion when he fights for one last time before his countrymen.
An ABS-CBN online report said yesterday the Filipino boxing hero has asked that amount from the Department of Tourism (DoT) if ever the final bout of his legendary career is staged in the country this November.
“Kinausap nga ako ni Manny Pacquiao, we talked and he said, humingi siya ng P3 billion for the fight,” said Tourism Secretary Wanda Corazon Teo in an interview on DZMM’s Pasada Sais Trenta.
The first of two fights lined up for the senator is scheduled this April 22 -- a title fight for the World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight tiara against unbeaten but unheralded Jeff Horn of Australia.
The DoT chief isn’t biting, unless Pacquiao takes on someone as popular as he is like his tormentor Floyd Mayweather, Jr.
“Sabi ko, ‘pag si (Floyd) Mayweather siguro ang kalaban niya o si (Juan Manuel) Marquez. I was telling him, ‘pag Mayweather o si Marquez, madali ‘yung i-sell, kaya namin ang P3 billion,” Teo said. The venue of the Pacquiao-Horn bout has not been finalized.
