TANDUAY escaped with a 76-74 decision over Marinerong Pilipino for second win in three games in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup yesterday at the Ynares Sports Arena.

John Lopez turned  to goat down the stretch that cost the game for the hard-fighting Skippers.

After scoring the game-tying basket, Lopez fouled Lester Alvarez away from ball in the final 3.1 seconds left.

Alvarez then made the technical foul shot – his only point in the second half – to put the Rhum Masters up, 75-74.

Marinerong Pilipino tried to turn things around after Jaymo Eguilos split his charities off a duty foul by Lopez in the last 2.5 seconds but Julian Sargent’s midcourt heave at the buzzer was way off.

Winning back-to-back games after a 26-point beating from the hands of Cignal HD, Tanduay improved to 2-1 to join Batangas in fourth place.

Earlier, Zark’s Burger nailed its first victory with a 109-91 conquest of AMA Online University.

Alvarez scored all but one of his 15 points in the first half while Eguilos was the other Rhum Master in twin digits with 10 points.

Achie Iñigo and Sargent teamed up for 24 points for the Skippers.
