1 hurt in Ecija road rage incident

SCIENCE CITY OF MUŇOZ — A road rage incident saw two drunk men figuring in a heated altercation that resulted in a bloody encounter after one of them was shot in the arm by the other shortly after midnight here on Sunday.

City police head Lt. Col. Jaime Quiocho Jr. said the two intoxicated men identified as suspect Denmark Flora, of Bgy. Poblacion West, and victim Eric Maniago, 38, of Bgy. Bantug were seen having a heated argument after figuring in a traffic squabble in Bgy. Bantug at 1:30 a.m.

Police said responding barangay officials were able to pacify the duo.

However, when the victim was on his way home on his Honda Civic (UDE-315), the suspect followed him on board his Suzuki Raider motorcycle and upon reaching Bgy. Poblacion North, the latter drew his cal. 45 pistol and shot the former several times, hitting the victim in the right arm.

Quiocho said the suspect fled after the incident while the victim was rushed to the San Jose City General Hospital.

Recovered from the crime scene were three fired cartridge cases for cal. 45, two deformed slugs, and a live ammunition for cal.45.

Quiocho said his men are conducting follow-up operations for the possible arrest of the suspect.
