CABANATUAN CITY — The Nueva Ecija police yesterday reported that eleven alleged members of the New People’s Army surrendered in Bongabon and San Jose City as the government’s campaign to end local communist armed conflicts continues to gain ground amid the pandemic.
Col. Marvin Joe C. Saro, provincial police director, said the surrender of the rebels came after the regional task force to end the local communist armed conflict persuased them to return to the folds of the law.
“Insurgency had been a problem for development in some parts of Nueva Ecija, transformations were neglected due to issues of terrorism and armed conflict, we will never get tired in offering these benefits from the government for the welfare of these former rebels,” said Saro.
It was learned that nine of the rebels yielded to the 1st provincial mobile force company based in Bongabon under Lt. Col. Alexander Aurelio while the other two surrendered to the 2nd PMFC under Lt. Col. Marco Dadez in San Jose City.
Saro said the peace initiative was a joint collaborative effort with the PIU- NEPPO, Gabaldon and Bongabon police, the 303rd MC RMFB 3, RIU 3, RID PRO 3, CIDG Pampanga-PFU, CIDG RFU3, 91ST IB, 703RD Bd and 84th IB 7ID PA.
Those who surrendered in Bongabon were identified as Ka Jerry/Ben/Carding/Manny, 55, S4 of the KLG Sierra Madre, S4 of Sandatahang Yunit Propaganda (SYP) and organizer of semi legal team Bongabon, with one M-14 rifle; Ka Diway, 44, squad leader of LGY-Aurora, with one M-16 rifle; Ka Dondon, 28, a political guide of Front 88, 4A and 4b, one cal. 38 revolver; Ka Jeng, 34, member of Sentro De Gravedad Pampanga, who surrendered with one cal. .38; Ka Amang, a member of AMGL-NE, and BAYAN MUNA; and three others who were members of MB KLG Sierra Madre and the MB Southern Tagalog Command and Gabriela.
They also turned over to the police their firearms and subversive documents including a book entitled “12-Puntong Programa ng Pambansang Demokratikong Prente ng Pilipinas” and other reading materials, plus two bandoliers and food supplies.
In San Jose City, the two rebel surrenderers were identified as Ka Resty, 53, former squad supply and political guide of Samahang Yunit Propaganda (SYP) under Josefino Corpuz Command in 1990 to 1994 and Ka Asin, of the Josefino Corpuz Command in 1993 to 1994.
