MAYOR Honey Lacuna personally distributed financial assistance to the recent victims of fire in Sampaloc and Tondo.
With her were Vice Mayor Yul Servo and social welfare department chief Re Fugoso, who said that the mayor was also personally on hand as they proceeded to visit the evacuation centers where families affected by the heavy rains were also brought and taken care of.
In her brief message to the fire victims, Lacuna remined them that their city government will always be there to somehow help them start all over again.
It was learned that each of the families numbering at least 116 in all were given P10,000 in cash to augment their needs as they rebuild their homes.
Lacuna said residents should always bear in mind that in times of fire, lives should always come first.
The mayor stressed that all material things may be bought again but a life is irreplaceable.
She also told the affected residents to learn from the past and be wary of the things that may cause fire.
