12 drug suspects held in Ecija stings

CABANATUAN CITY — Police nabbed 12 suspected drug peddlers, including the sixth-ranked drug personality of Jaen town during intensified operations conducted in separate stings in Nueva Ecija on Monday.

Police Major Baltazar Corpuz, Jaen police head, identified the arrested number six-ranked drug suspect as businessman Dennis Laureano, 40, single, of Bgy. Dampulan, Jaen.

Laureano was collared after selling a P500 worth of shabu to a police-poseur-buyer at 4 p.m.

A body check showed Laureano was also in possession of eight plastic sachets containing shabu, said Corpuz.

In this city, newly-designated police head Lt. Col. Barnard Danie V. Dasugo, who replaced erstwhile chief Lt. Col. Arnel M. Dial said his men led by Major Jeffrey Alivia nabbed two women for peddling shabu in Bgy. Imelda at 4:40 p.m.

The arrested suspects were identified as Elizabeth Gonzales, 54, alias Liza Montero, and Catherine Medina, 28, both of Bgy. Imelda. The duo also yielded drugs during a subsequent inspection, said Dasugo.

In Zaragosa, police led by Major Nelson Sarmiento nabbed three suspects identified as Abegail De Guzman, 29, of Bgy. San Isidro; and Robert Zamora, 35, and Alfredo Cabacungan Jr., 37, both of Bgy. Concepcion.

Also arrested in San Isidro town was Christopher Sencilla, 37, alias Per, of Bgy. Maligaya, Cabiao, said police chief Major Joel M. Dela Cruz.

Five other drug suspects were apprehended during separate stings in San Leonardo town, said Major Lawrence Lira, town police head.

Lira identified the arrested suspects as Susana Catacutan, 31, alias Susan, single; and Cherry Manicad, 27, alias Cherry, both of Bgy. Mangbangnan; Jayzen Salazar, 35, alias Jay, driver, of Bgy. Nieves; Jommel De Guzman, 31, single, jobless, of Bgy. Puting Tubig; and Wilfredo Valenzuela, 46, helper, of Bgy. Maburak, both of Gapan city.

Provincial police head Col. Marvin Joe C. Saro said the arrested suspects were locked up in their respective detention cells and facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 before the prosecutor’s office.
