14 of 38 San Jose City bgys. ‘drug-cleared’

SAN JOSE CITY – At least 14 of the city’s 38 barangays were declared “drug-free” by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) during a peace and order council meeting held here on Tuesday.

PDEA Nueva Ecija investigation agent Christopher Macairap identified the 14 drug-cleared as barangays Dizol, Kaliwangan, San Mauricio, Parang Mangga, Sinipit Bubon, Tondod, Villa Floresta, Villa Joson, Villa Marina, Pinili, Culaylay, A. Pascual, Porais, and San Juan.

The clearing of the barangays was in line with the PDEA’s Barangay Drug Clearing Program Working Group for Monitoring and Validation which was created to fast-track the implementation of drug-clearing operations in the communities as per strict directives of PDEA director-general Wilkins M. Villanueva.

City police head Lt. Col. Criselda Y. De Guzman said the San Jose City Police Station was adjudged as the topnotcher in drug-clearing operations in the city category and was also third placer in Central Luzon in the implementation of the PDEA’s BDCP-WGMV.

De Guzman said the city police and the PDEA are closely coordinating with the barangays and the local government led by City Mayor Mario “Kokoy” Salvador in accelerating efforts to rid the remaining barangays in the city of illegal drugs.
