AT least 15,000 members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) will be deployed to ensure peace and order during the holding of this year’s ‘Traslacion’ in celebration of the Feast of the Black Nazarene in Manila on January 9, 2026.
Each year, the number of devotees who attend the celebration reach about two million.
It was learned from Manila Police District (MPD) spokesperson PMaj. Philipp Ines that in addition to the PNP members, personnel from other various government agencies will also be deployed to ensure peace and order as well as security, especially among the devotees expected to participate in the event and which are anticipated to run in the millions as usual.
According to Ines, alternative routes will be opened as some roads will have to be closed to give way to the procession where the devotees participate barefoot.
As usual, Ines said that the PNP has issued rules regarding the items that are prohibited to be brought during the occasion.
He assured that the MPD will enforce the rules to the letter, as he assured that all security preparations are already in place.
As of this writing, Ines said there are no serious threats being monitored by the PNP in relation to the upcoming Traslacion and fiesta celebration.
