2 Africans stranded in NAIA since 2019

TWO African nationals have been stranded at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) since 2019 after they were barred from entering the country.

Philippine Airlines and airport authorities are having a hard time putting the two stranded foreigners on departing planes upon arrival in the country April last year, one from Guangzhou, China and the as a transit passenger from Bangkok, Thailand.

A PAL staffer who asked not to be identified said that the two Africans were denied by the BI upon arrival on April 4, 2019 and April 21, 2019 as they would become public charge in violation of 29(a)5,

Cameroonian national Alain Njogho Acha, 32, arrived in NAIA terminal 2, on April 4, 2019 as transit passenger from Bangkok after he was denied entry in Japan.

The other African, Johnson Emmanuel Josiah, 42, from Liberia arrived on April 21, 2019 via Philippine Airline flight PR-383 from Guangzhuo, China.

Both stranded at NAIA Terminal 2 they refuse to return to their countries of origin and are seeking asylum in the Philippines but their request has been denied by the Department of Justice.

Bureau of Immigration (BI) spokesperson Dona Sandoval said that the two Africans have been resisting efforts to board them on aircraft, making a scene which endangered other passengers.

“Every time we tried to board the plane the two Africans they always make a scene and become unruly and it is too risky for other passengers on board,” airline staff said.

On October 4, 2019 Josiah was scheduled board a flight via Kenya Air but he refused to board the airplane and became unruly. By Willy M. Balasa
