2 carnappers killed in Laguna encounter

SuspectTWO alleged carnappers were killed in an encounter with joint operatives of the Highway Patrol Unit Calauan police and 1st Laguna Provincial Mobile Company in Bgy. Lamot, Calauan, Laguna, yesterday morning.

Laguna Provincial Director PCol. Serafin Petalio II reported to Calabarzon Regional Director PBGen. Felipe Natividad the victim filed a complaint before the Calauan Police Station and reported the incident that occurred at about 7:30 a.m. along the national road in Bgy. Lamot 2

The victim was traversing the national highway on his blue Rusie motorcycle in Barangay Lamot 2 when he stopped to urinate. The suspects on board a motorcycle approached, pointed a gun at him, and forcibly took his cellphone and motorcycle.

The victim said one of the suspects indiscriminately fired his gun while speeding towards Bgy. Silangan in Calauan.

The Regional Highway Patrol Unit (RHPU) 4A, and the 1st PMFC, were able to locate the suspects and the stolen motorcycle at their hide out in Purok 3, Bgy. Balayhangin, Calauan, Laguna, at around 2:45 a.m.

The armed suspects fired at the operatives prompting the latter to return fire.

During the firefight that ensued, two suspects and PSSg. Diosdado Casupang Jr. sustained injuries.

Recovered from the scene of the encounter were a Caliber .45 pistol, caliber.38 revolver, blue Rusie motorcycle, another motorcycle with no license plate and several empty shells of different calibers.

Casupang Jr. is now in stable condition at the San Pablo City Medical Center, San Pablo City.

The two suspects were declared dead on arrival at the Panlalawigang Pagamutan ng Laguna in Bay, Laguna.
