2 drunk men held for firing gun near Ecija police camp

CABANATUAN CITY – Two of four alleged drunk men riding a sedan were nabbed after firing a gun indiscriminately in the middle of the night near the police camp here on Thursday.

Police provincial officer-in-charge Col. Marvin Joe C. Saro identified two of those arrested as Patrick Luna, 32, call center agent, of 280 Caridad Village, and Eisenhower Maldia, 25, jobless, of 53 Burgos Avenue, both of this city.

Saro said their two other cohorts, one of whom was identified as Kenneth Puno, of Bgy. Magsaysay Norte, eluded arrest.

Only two suspects were collared by elements of the 1st provincial mobile force company after firing a gun while riding a white 1986 model Toyota sedan (FJE-929) at 11:20 p.m.

Seized from the suspects were a cal. 40 pistol, with magazine loaded with 11 bullets and another 50 live ammunition for cal. 40 pistol.

Probers also recovered five spent shells of the same caliber at the crime scene.

Witnesses told police that the suspects initially fired gunshots along Burgos Avenue at the corner of Consejo St. and continued firing until they reached the vicinity of the police camp.

Saro said charges for illegal discharge of firearm, violation of Republic Act No. 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act); violation of Article 151 of Revised Penal Code (Resistance and Disobedience to a Person of an Agent in Authority; alarm and scandal; violation of Republic Act No. 11332 (Otherwise Known as the “Law on Reporting of Communicable Diseases), and Cabanatuan City Ordinance Executive Order No. 2020-013 (Imposition of Liquor Ban and City-wide Curfew within the City of Cabanatuan) were filed against the suspects.
