2 killed, 4 missing, 8 hurt in CamNorte due to Ulysses

TWO persons were killed, four missing and eight others were injured in Camarines Norte as typhoon Ulysses battered Bicol Region.

This was based on an update issued by the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) in Region 5.

Two of the casualties were from the municipalities of Daet and Talisay.

Three of the missing persons came from Vinzons town, and one from Mercedes, while those injured came from Mercedes, Basud, Daet, and Vinzons.

Earlier, Camarines Norte was placed under Tropical Wind Signal No. 3 as Typhoon Ulysses came in contact with the Luzon landmass.

An update issued by OCD Region 5 showed that at around 12 p.m. a total of 57,719 individuals have been displaced, of which 50,582 are inside evacuation centers and 2,140 are outside the shelters.

Flooding incidents have also been reported in 37 municipalities in Bicol Region, as well as five landslides in four towns.

The OCD likewise reported that there are 938 stranded passengers in seaports in the region, as well as 255 trucks, 44 light vehicles, and five sea vessels.

Most of the national roads in the region are passable, with only eight national roads that are not.

Based on the weather bureau’s 2 p.m. bulletin on Thursday, there are no more areas under tropical cyclone wind signal (TCWS) no. 3 as Typhoon Ulysses accelerated while moving over the West Philippine Sea WPS).
