2 minors rescued from prostie-front videoke bar

ELEMENTS of Navotas Police Maritime Group raided a videoke bar allegedly used as front for prostitution and rescued two minors, who were caught in the act of having sex with customers Friday night at Navotas Fish Port.

Navotas Maritime Police Station chief Supt. Marlon Camatoy said a team led by Insp. Ferdinand Hermoso raided the La Cebuana Videoke Bar located along Market 2 at around 11 p.m. and rescued two minors, aged 16 and 17, who were caught having sex with customers.

The alleged manager of the bar, identified as Rowena Catipay, 48, and his nephew, Erwin Duron, were placed under arrest while the alleged owner, Pastora Duron, managed to escape. Two other girls, aged 18 and 26, were also rescued by operatives during the raid.

Officer-on-case SPO2 Divina Garo said earlier, Insp. Hermoso and his men conducted surveillance operations after receiving a tip from their informant that the videoke bar employs minors as sex workers.

After they confirmed the report, Hermoso proceeded with the raid when their informant posed as customer and was offered sex with minor for P1,000.

SPO2 Garo said the establishment was registered as a restaurant and not videoke bar.

The arrested suspects will be charged for violation of RA 10364 or the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act before the Navotas City Prosecutor’s Office.
