2 rookie NCRPO cops held for firing guns in N. Ecija

GABALDON, Nueva Ecija – Two alleged visiting rookie policemen assigned in Metro Manila were nabbed after they were accused of indiscriminately firing their weapons for no apparent reason in this town on Saturday.

Arrested were Corporal Lawrence Natividad, assigned at the Manila Police District’s Moriones PCP, resident of Novaliches, Quezon City, and Patrolman Rephidim Orozco, member of the National Capital Region police force, of Tondo, Manila.

Reports reaching the office of Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) director Brig. Gen. Valeriano T. De Leon said the arrest of the two rookie cops was triggered by a complaint from barangay captain Isagani Sibayan about an incident wherein they allegedly fired their service firearms without any provocation in Bgy. Calabasa at 10:30 a.m.

Seized from Natividad was his Pietro Beretta pistol while Orozco yielded a 9mm caliber pistol.

Probers recovered at least eight spent shells at the crime scene.

De Leon said the two cops were subjected to a paraffin test while administrative and criminal complaints are being readied for filing against them.

We will not condone this misdemeanor and appropriate charges will be filed against them, both administrative and criminal,” said De Leon.
