TWO South Korean nationals wanted by the Interpol for massive international fraud were arrested by agents of the National Capital Region Unit of the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in separate operations in the southern part of Metro Manila on Tuesday, CIDG-NCR chief, Colonel Arnold Thomas C. Ibay said yesterday.

The two were identified as Sin In Chul and Hong Yeong Jae, both subjects of an Interpol Red Notice and wanted for fraud and specific economic crimes in violation of Article 347 of the Criminal Act of Korea, said the official.

Ibay said the 50-year old Chul was arrested 9 a.m. Tuesday inside Room 216 0f The Birchwood Acacia Estates on San Dimas Avenue, Taguig City by members of the CIDG Manila District Field Unit led by Major Bryan Dexter Andulan and the NCR Police Office Regional Intelligence Division headed by Captai Narrolf Tan.

A followup operation conducted by the same team of policemen resulted in the arrest of Hong,28, inside his rented unit at no. 312 Zebrina Building in Calathea Place, DMCI Homes in Barangay San Antonio, Parañaque City.

Ibay said the operations were conducted by his men with the assistance of the Bureau of Immigration’s Fugitive Search Unit and the Korean Desk.

Both foreigners are now being held at the Manila DFU office where they are being investigated and documented pending the issuance of a commitment from the immigration department.
