200-300 cops to be deployed by MPD Chief Dizon for Feast of Sto. Nino

Manila Police District (MPD)

ABOUT 200 to 300 policemen from the Manila Police District (MPD) will be deployed in Tondo and Pandacan in connection with the slated Feast of Sto. Nino on January 20, 2023.

MPD Director PBGen. Andre Dizon said that even before talks are to be held with the Church authorities of Tondo and Pandacan, the MPD is prepared to provide the necessary protection and security to ensure that the events related to the celebration of the feast will be peaceful and orderly.

Dizon notes that aside from the mass and street parties, the festivity’s highlight is the holding of the ‘Lakbayaw’ where the attendees dance while holding the images of the Sto. Nino during a procession.

The MPD, according to Dizon, will particularly guard against possible incidents stemming from drinking sessions that turn bad.
