21 Pinoys die from COVID-19 in UAE

THE Philippine Embassy in United Arab Emirates (UAE) yesterday reported that about 21 Filipinos have died due to the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

Of the figure, Philippine Ambassador to UAE Hyajceelyn Quintana said at least 17 notification of deaths were from Dubai and four from Abu Dhabi.

Quintana, during the “Laging Handa” briefing assured Filipinos that the embassy is ready to assist Filipinos in the Gulf state needing assistance.

“Andito kami palagi para makatulong sa inyong lahat. Wala kaming pinipili kung residente man sila o manggagawa,” she said.

Quintana added “hindi kami tumitigil sa pagprocess ng application para sa repatriation,  para sa exit clearance at ng makauwi dun sa gustong makauwi.”

She assured the Embassy is ready to assist those who needs help and will find solutions to the Filipinos’ problems.

While mobility restrictions have started to loosen in UAE, Quintana advised Filipinos to remain vigilant and observe protocols imposed by local authorities.

There are about 14,700 Covid-19 cases in UAE, 137 of whom have succumbed to the disease.
