AT least 2,500 job vacancies were offered by the Manila city government to jobless Manilans during the ‘KALINGA SA MAYNILA PESO JOB FAIR’ held in Pandacan on Wednesday morning.
Mayor Honey Lacuna said the employment opportunities were offered for high school graduates, college level, college and tech/voc graduates.
The said job fair, Lacuna said, was spearheaded by the Public Employment Service Office – City of Manila under Fernan Bermejo, in coordination with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) – National Capital Region and DOLE NCR Manila Field Office.
The mayor congratulated those who were hired on the spot.
Lacuna said the city government continuously holds job fairs in every ‘Kalinga sa Maynila’ being held in various barangays during Wednesdays.
Jobseekers are advised to wear casual attire; bring ten copies of resume and their own ballpens and to follow the standard health protocols.
During the ‘Kalinga sa Maynila,’ Lacuna brings with her the heads of various offices, bureaus and departments usually sought for help by those going to City Hall.
This way, she said the residents are able to save on precious money, time and effort by just going to the ‘Kalinga’ when it comes to their barangay.
In each forum, the following services are provided: medical consultation, basic medicines, deworming, rabies vaccination, civil registry, tricycle/parking registration, PWD, solo parent and senior citizen IDs, clearing/flushing operations, water/electricity/building permit inquiries, notary services, police clearance and many more.
The heads of the following offices in Manila City Hall are present in each ‘Kalinga’ to directly answer queries and address requests for assistance: MTPB – Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau;Department of Public Services-Manila;Department of Engineering and Public Works, Manila;Manila Police District;Manila Barangay Bureau; Manila Civil Registry Office; City Legal Office, Manila; Manila Health Department
Manila Department of Social Welfare; Public Employment Service Office – City of Manila; Manila OSCA; Manila Veterinary Inspection Board and City Treasurer’s Office Manila.
Outside each ‘Kalinga’ venue, stalls are also put up representing the said various departments where the residents may also seek assistance.
