3 killed in Munti, Las Pinas fires

THREE people died, including a five-year old girl, while two were injured in three separate fire incidents Friday evening and Saturday morning in Muntinlupa and Las Pinas cities.

Firefighters discovered the bodies of Zosimo Asido, 73, and his niece Maricel Asido, 56, in the rubbles of their house on Block 11, Lot 14, Camella Homes I, Brgy. Putatan, Muntinlupa City after the fire which started at around 6:34 p.m. Friday was put out at around 7:17 p.m.

Muntinlupa Fire Station reported that Zosimo, who was reportedly paralyzed, and his niece were trapped when the fire started at the mezzanine floor of the garage due to an unattended lit candle at the altar.

At around 9 a.m. Saturday, a fire of still undetermined origin, razed some 25 houses along M. Santos Avenue and Guadalupe St., Fatima Subdivision, Zapote, Las Pinas City, that claimed the lives of a five-year-old girl identified as Rian Cloud Bueno.

The Las Pinas Bureau of Fire Protection reported that the blaze started from the house of Mary Joy Abibas, mother of the victim, who reportedly jumped from the window of their burning house on M. Santos Avenue after she told her daughter Rian and her seven-year-old sister to run outside their burning house. However, only the victim’s elder sister managed to get out of the burning house.

The blaze was put out at around 9:52 a.m., leaving 25 families homeless. The victims are temporarily being sheltered at the Fatima Subdivision covered court.

Less than 30 minutes later, another fire broke out on Block 7, Lot 2, Prime Rose Street, Talon Village, Talon Kuatro, Las Pinas City, injuring two persons identified as Lona Alesna, 49, who sustained 2nd degree burns and Romulo Fuentes, 50, who had lacerations on the head.

Arson investigators are still determining the cause of fire that was put out at around 11 a.m. damaging at least P100,000 worth of properties.
