3 NPA cadres yield in Ecija

SAN JOSE CITY — The Provincial Task Force on Ending Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTF-ELCAC) yesterday announced the surrender of three suspected members of the New People’s Army to the police in this city on Wednesday.

Provincial police director Col. Marvin Joe C. Saro said these three rebel surrenderees were former active members of the CPP-NPA-NDF’s “Pulang Mandirigma” under the Josefino Corpuz Command.

They were identified as Ka Butch, 48, caretaker; Ka Waldo/Ka Waren, 51, carpenter; and Ka Eugene, 56, barangay tanod, all of Bgy. Balbalungao, Lupao, Nueva Ecija.

Saro said the rebels yielded following negotiations spearheaded by the police based here led by Lt. Col. Criselda Y. De Guzman.

He said they will be automatically endorsed to become recipients of the government’s assistance program for rebel returnees dubbed the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).

The said personalities are now under the custody of 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company based here for safe-keeping and documentation.
