300 Manilans with cancer, undergoing dialysis get cash aid from Mayor Honey

NEARLY 300 Manila residents suffering from cancer and undergoing dialysis have been given assistance by the city of Manila.

The said assistance was personally handed by Mayor Honey Lacuna during her regular “People’s Day” held recently at the Bulwagang Villegas in Manila City Hall.

Apart from the financial aid, the mayor, who is also a doctor, spent time with the beneficiaries to personally know their condition and assure them of the city government‘s help to somehow alleviate their condition.

The ‘People’s Day’ is a program formulated by Lacuna as a venue for helping cancer and kidney patients which are both very costly to treat.

Hundreds benefit from each program held and the recipients are recommended by their respective barangays.

Apart from this, Lacuna also makes it a point to visit the elderly who are bedridden and also spend time talking to them and extending assistance on a very personal level.

She is usually accompanied by Vice Mayor Yul Servo after they hold their weekly “Kalinga sa Maynila” program wherein the basic services of the city are being brought straight to the communities.

Lacuna also takes time out to deliver the cash incentives for centenarians by directly visiting them in their homes.
